About FLAT
FLAT is a biographical one-act play writen and produced by Ellen Clifford in collaboration with LA artist Lora Ivanova. Incorporating dance, mime, music the show tells the comical yet touching story of a young woman who learns to accept and love herself by embracing her biggest flaw: her infinitely small breasts. As we seek love and happiness in our lives, FLAT is a much needed reminder the real journey starts inside.
FLAT received Honorable Mention in The New Works of Merit Playwriting Contest 2007.
A SKIN Collaborative Production
Founded in 2008 the SKIN Collaborative ensemble is dedicated to developing new theatrical works with an interdisciplinary approach incorporating new media, dance, mime, music and video.
Answers to Commonly Asked Questions
- YES, we do talk about breasts; - NO, we are not showing any; - BUT what's most important is what this show truly is about: self-acceptance. FLAT was written by someone who has struggled with an eating disorder and exercise addiction for most of her young adult life. It takes a less than conventional approach to the topic of self-love and confidence; - BOTH men and women have something to take away so bring an open-minded friend, sibling or significant other, this will certainly be an interesting conversation piece to start off your evening! If you are human, this play is for you.
